Stewart's Melville 3 – 80 Newton Stewart

A very challenging day for the club on Saturday saw the visitors from Dumfries & Galloway score 12 tries and 10 conversions. Newton Stewart played with width, pace and creativity and they used the wide open expanses of the Inverleith pitch to maximum effect.

Newton Stewart look set to be worthy winners of the league this season and have set a template for optimising available resources to maximum effect with a pool of about 25 adult players.

The boys who pulled on the home jersey did their best but were well beaten. Solace can be found in how other clubs such as Gala and Jed-Forest in National One have recovered after suffering similar heavy defeats this season. We have been here before at points in our history with heavy defeats to GHK in the mid 1990s and GHA more recently similarly chastening experiences.

The next home game is Saturday 10th January against Howe of Fife and all support would be appreciated by the players.
